Ok, so I'm sitting here at working listening to the What in the Ham Sandwhich Show with Sean Slaughter and Cook Dog...and they got a special guest on this show, DJ iRock Jesus (Coast 2 Coast Mixtape DJ's). At any rate, iRock played a blend of a song, Canton Jones' Hater Day with Nine's Whatcha Want beat. I know, I know...most of ya'll have no idea who Nine is. But if you're one of the select few, that was high school/college aged during the 90's, you probably do. So then, I wanted to hear the original song and not just the instrumental. I hit Youtube...and ran across plenty old joints. No, these songs won't glorify God...but they do hold a place in my personal history, so for that reason, I'm not so quick to let them go. There was a time when rappers rapped for the love of it. No, the content wasn't perfect, but it wasn't about all this rah rah of today's artists. Don't judge me! Enjoy the music!
I'll probably be adding joints as they come to me or I come across them. MAN, if these joints don't remind me of my days on The Hill (Shout out to all the cats I used to watch Rap City in the TV Room with!!)

He’s The King, I’m The DJ [Mixtape]
Posted by JD on 9:01 AM
Labels: DJ Jazzy Jeff, free download, King of Pop, Michael Jackson, music mixtape
DJ Jazzy Jeff featuring Michael Jackson -

Jeff said he was inspired to do the mixtape after fellow DJ, Mick Boogie suggested putting his playlist together as a proper release.
“I did it exactly as I would play it out live,” Jeff explained. “I kind of wanted to give a feel like you heard it in a club. I didn’t necessarily want to go in a certain order, ’cause everybody in the world plays certain Michael Jackson songs. And I wanted to play songs that not everyone plays, play some obscure album cuts. And if you listen to it, I have some a capella and versions of songs that not everyone had heard. So, I kind of wanted to mix it up and keep people off guard. Just give them an example of all that Michael was like.”
“After Mike passed, I really started digging, and I found a bunch of stuff that I didn’t know Mike had, especially with the Jackson 5,” Jeff told MTV News. “He had a whole bunch of albums that go completely past people. I think people just go for [popular songs like] ‘I Want You Back,’ ‘Never Can Say Goodbye’ — and there was a bunch of obscure albums that all had really good stuff on them. Then it was hard, because I wanted to keep it one CD and not make it a Mike anthology. I wanted to just make it something that was entertaining, that you could just play from the beginning to end.”
The 49-song mixtape is sponsored by Undcrwrn apparel and will be available for free download on their site starting Monday (October 26), on the eve of premiere of the concert documentary, “Michael Jackson’s This Is It.” The mixtape cover, featuring an illustrated take on Jeff and Smith’s album He’s the DJ, I’m the Rapper, is also printed on a T-shirt from Udrcrwn, retailing for $32.

Christmas Time!
Posted by JD on 6:35 PM
Labels: Christmas, Jesus, love, Silent Night, The Temptations

(Shot with my phone's crap camera...don't judge me!! lol)
Before you theologians and Bible scholars jump down my throat, I definitely know, honor, and appreciate what the meaning behind and the importance of what CHRISTmas is really about. But in that, I have to say...I love the love that permeates throughout my house during this season. The Motown Christmas cuts playing (it ain't Christmas time TO ME until I hear The Temptations "Silent Night"...I don't know about ya'll lol) as my wife and daughter decorate the tree...my son and his friend running up and down the stairs laughing... Man, God has been so good to my family and I. He is such a faithful provider, an awesome wonder!! During this time especially, remember what the birth and life of Jesus really means to you! "I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows)." Enjoy this life! It's a gift in itself! Think about how He's blessed you and do your best to be a blessing to someone else!!

Coach of the Year?!
Posted by JD on 12:28 PM
Labels: Brian Kelly, coach, college football, integrity, NCAA, The Home Depot
Man please!! What are the requirements?! I can't believe this guy. Is he serious?! Ok, let me back up. Not sure who follows college football, but I do. Not as closely as I once did before marriage and kids, but I follow close enough to know what's going on. And I just (well, not just) found out that Brian Kelly, former coach of the Cincinnati Bearcats and current coach of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, won The Home Depot Coach of the Year honors for 2009. No question, his sideline stats and team leadership prove that he is deserving of the award...but what about character?! Doesn't integrity count for anything anymore?! I mean come on...the guy does a phenominal job leading his team to an undefeated season and in the waking moments before the biggest game in those kids' young lives, he decides to turn his back on them for his "dream job"?! How selfish could that be?! After reading this story, I would have walked out after he made the annoucement too!! I mean, lets be real...we all knew that he was going to take the job...what was the harm in waiting until January 2, 2010 to accept the position? Nevermind the fact that the team overcame the hurdle of dealing with the Notre Dame coaching job media frenzy throughout most of the season...when the rubber hits the road, this guy abandons his team?! AND THEN, he's honored with the Coach of the Year award?! Wow...do better Home Depot and NCAA!

Wake up Tiger...WAKE UP!
Posted by Anonymous on 8:26 PM
Labels: golf, marriage, Tiger Woods, wake up
Tiger,
Now I do commend you trying to fix your situation through your apology. But you have to know it's not going to just go away over night. Tiger Woods...what were you thinking?! How can a person make two stupid decisions, at THIS point in your life and career, you must be taking some kind of drugs or something.?! Looking at all you've accomplished in your career up until this point, this really raises an eyebrow for fans, both young and old.
When we think of Tiger Woods, we must admit, he's no "average joe"...he's an icon to the sports world. I have to say, this is absolutely crazy...so soon after you were married?! How can you think possibly cheating on your wife is going to be kept as a private matter, as large as you are in the sport community?! Are you serious Tiger?! YOU made your so call private life, public. Its funny to me when movie stars and athletes feel that in some strange existence in their minds, that they don't expect anyone to say anything about there actions. I believe that is a very child-like approach. When you're Tiger Woods...you CAN'T mess up like this! Granted, we all mess up, but like this?! The media has been waiting on something like this...use your head man.
